When I was a but a wee bairn, Dear Reader, growing up in a South of the Border type place (not the South Carolina type border; the Rio Grande type border), I recall my parents commenting – rather frequently – that Mexican Coke was way better than American Coke.
Rum most likely caused the frequency of such declarations; the actual fact of the matter, however, has been independently (and frequently) confirmed.
With parents as tuned into the subtleties of corn syrup vs. cane syrup in Coke, you’ve no doubt guessed by now that I’m a bit of a Coke head myself:
“No, waiter, Pepsi IS NOT OK. Come, dear, we’re leaving this horrible establishment.”
I mean, really.
